ICC Cricket World Cup 2011
Diwali seemd to have come early this year in the national capital as the skyline lit up with fireworks Saturday as India created history by defeating Sri Lanka in an epic battle of nerves to lift the 2011 cricket World Cup in Mumbai.
everywhere there was high spirits around the country,as millions of them poured onto the streets and roads across the city with the national flag fluttering in their hands and loud music blaring from cars.
The whole country erupted with joy as the winning runs were scored by the Indian batsmen.
People across country were seen screaming "We won!" as they danced on drum beats with firecrackers being lit in the back-ground. People were seen blowing vuvuzelas as they rode on bikes and cars with tri-colours painted on their faces.
Fans who visited the various clubs, pubs and restaurants in the contry which were streaming the clash live on huge screens went berserk and broke into impromptu jigs with friends and families.
They applauded India and hailed M.S. Dhoni as the best captain ever in the history of Indian cricket.
"Dhoni is god. First he won the T-20 championship, then took India to the number one Test side and finally he has won the World Cup. He is the best captain in the history of Indian cricket.
Although, there was hype that Sachin and Sehwag will blow away the Sri Lankan bowlers. It was finally Dhoni and Gautam who rose to the occasion. But the little master has earned this cup with his years of dedication and hardwork.
"India played better and they won but the Lankans fought well too till the end and it was a commendable match with balanced performance from both the teams....
